Parrish & Heimbecker Donates $150,000 to Moosomin SK Airport Expansion Project

July 16, 2024 | Eastern Canada

Winnipeg, MB (July 16, 2024) – The Moosomin SK Airport Expansion Project has received a significant boost with a $150,000 donation from Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H). This contribution is a part of the community-focused initiative to upgrade the local airport.

The $10 million expansion project is a collaborative effort funded by provincial government, towns and rural municipalities, Nutrien, and local businesses and individuals. The project aims to enhance the regional connectivity and provide essential services.

The new 5,000-foot paved runway allows planes to land and take off with improved safety and efficiency. This development is especially critical for the region, facilitating timely medical assistance for individuals who previously had to be transported by ambulance before being flown out. The Moosomin SK Airport Expansion Project will improve access to cities like Regina, Saskatoon, Brandon, and Winnipeg, ensuring critical medical services are readily available to the local population.

John Heimbecker, CEO of Parrish & Heimbecker, highlighted the company’s dedication to the region, stating, “P&H has a strong presence in Moosomin and surrounding area with our local elevators, and we are deeply committed to the communities we operate in. Supporting the Moosomin SK Airport Expansion Project aligns with our values and underscores the importance of regional connectivity and emergency services.”

The Community Builder’s Alliance (CBA) has played a crucial role in the fundraising efforts, contributing $725,000 from its members towards the project. The RM of Moosomin is leading the final fundraising push to raise the remaining funds needed to complete the construction. The P&H contribution will go toward lighting and electrical installation at the airport, the last piece now that the new runway has been paved.
