Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited provides 88,282 meals to Drive Away Hunger Campaign
February 14, 2024 | Eastern Canada
As part of the 2023 FCC Drive Away Hunger campaign, Parrish & Heimbecker, Ltd. provided an equivalent of 88,282 meals to food banks across Canada.
Over the past few months, P&H collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations from staff, customers and community members. Each donation was matched, pound for dollar and dollar for dollar, and given to local food banks throughout Canada to help alleviate food insecurity for people in our communities.
This year P&H’s company-wide (Grain and Crop Inputs, P&H Milling and New-Life Mills) totals came to over 7000 lbs. of food and $40,000 in financial donations to both local and provincial food banks. The Canadian ag and food industry collectively provided an incredible 143 million meals during the 2023 Drive Away Hunger campaign.
Drive Away Hunger is a cross-Canada effort to create partnerships between communities and donors to feed people in need. Founded by Farm Credit Canada (FCC), the industry-wide initiative has been collecting food and cash for nutritious meals for the past 20 years across Canada.
P&H is proud to be a part of this important campaign, bringing nutritious food to those who need it while redirecting food surpluses and cutting down on food waste.
