Scholarship Guidelines

 

Objective

To support and empower the educational aspirations of promising students in the fields of agriculture, business & economics, and related programs crucial to the agricultural industry.

Overview
  • Four (4) scholarships will be awarded annually to post-secondary students.
  • These scholarships are valued at $2,000 CAD each.
Eligibility
  • Students must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
  • Students who live in and/or attend an accredited post-secondary institution within British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario
  • Students enrolled in either 2nd, 3rd, or Final year of their program.
  • There is no minimum cumulative grade point average required.
Field of study/Program requirements
  • Restricted to programs vital to the future of the agricultural industry, such as, but not limited to, agricultural sciences, food sciences, business and economics, engineering, information technology, and software development.
Application process
  1. Complete and submit an online application: Passion & Heart Scholarship Application form
  2. The application must be completed and submitted no later than the application deadline of 11:59pm CT on February 1, 2025.
  3. Receipt of applications will be acknowledged by an email.
  4. Responses and documents will be reviewed by an internal scholarship committee to ensure all requirements have been met.
Supporting documentation

The supporting documentation described below is a requirement of the scholarship application. If any of these documents are not received, your application will be considered incomplete and will not be considered.

Transcript/List of courses

  • An unofficial transcript
  • Transcripts will not be used for grade purposes; they will only be used to identify relevant industry-related courses.

Proof of enrollment

  • An official letter issued by the post-secondary institution.
  • Proof of enrollment must showcase that the applicant is enrolled in the post-secondary institution at the time of submission.

Reference letter

  • One (1) letter of reference must come from a non-relative, who can speak to your qualifications, character, and potential to succeed in our scholarship program.
Evaluation Criteria
  • List of activities, description, and outcomes of short answer questions.
  • Understanding of essay topic, original thinking, effectiveness, and structure of the essay.
  • Reference letter from a reputable source, clearly indicating why the applicant deserves to be awarded.
  • Relevant classes to the agricultural industry displayed in transcript.
  • All required documentation provided.
Selection process

All applications will be meticulously reviewed by an internal scholarship committee.

Successful applicants

Only successful applicants will be contacted. Successful applicants will receive email confirmation of their scholarship in April. Successful applicants are encouraged to visit the closest Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited location to receive their cheque. If a successful applicant cannot visit a location, the cheque will be mailed.

Payment
  • Scholarship payment(s) will be issued upon completion of the scholarship review process.
  • It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that payment of tuition fees is made within the following school year or a reimbursement of the previous year of study.
