Maintenance Worker

At New-Life Mills, Maintenance Workers are responsible for executing a preventative maintenance program, troubleshooting, and identifying problematic equipment and developing solutions to repair plant equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Maintaining the safety and reliability of machinery and equipment is critical in achieving optimal production efficiency and minimizing downtime of the feed mill operations.

Day to day activities will include:

  • Conduct mechanical and preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of machinery and equipment
  • Prepare and update preventative maintenance program
  • Participate in water treatment programs involving high pressure steam equipment
  • Work effectively in a feed manufacturing environment with emphasis and compliance to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
  • Optimize safety and reliability of machines and equipment by following and complying with appropriate precautions to prevent risk to employees and to the product
  • Complete and update maintenance reports as per company and regulatory standards
  • Perform maintenance post clean up and maintain high standard of sanitation and housekeeping in the production area and maintenance shop
  • Proactively forecast Parts needs/requirements and order accordingly

A successful Maintenance Worker candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:

  • Certified Red Seal Millwright
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in industrial plant maintenance
  • Some experience in electrical and/or pneumatic equipment is required
  • Knowledge of feed manufacturing and processing equipment is a definite asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work 10-hour shifts, which would include every second weekend
  • On call availability for emergency repairs during evenings and weekends
