Yorkton, SK. (June 30, 2021) – Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) announces a new grain facility in the Yorkton, Saskatchewan area. Already under construction, it is expected to be complete and receiving grain in June of 2022. This facility will replace its current one, which has been in operation since 1980.

Parrish & Heimbecker completes upgrades to Goderich Terminal

Goderich, Ont.  (August 21, 2020) – Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) is pleased to announce the completion of two significant infrastructure projects at its Goderich Terminal.

The first is a new vessel-loading spout that has industry-leading dust suppression technology. The new spout monitors and controls the flow of grain at the discharge end through computerized sensors. From the deck, P&H operators are able to manage a concentrated cylinder of grain, placing it much closer to the bottom of the vessel and reducing unwanted dust emissions.

A few days ago I received a phone call from a Canada Competition Bureau agent with reference to the recent acquisition of 10 former Louis Dreyfus Company elevators by Parrish and Heimbecker.

The Competition Bureau has recently filed an application to order P&H to sell either their current Moosomin location or their newly purchased Virden elevator.  The reason given is that P&H now controls two elevators along 180 kilometres of Highway No. 1, putting area producers at a perceived competitive disadvantage.

If you’ve been around the grain industry for any amount of time, as I have, you’ve probably heard of the ABCD companies. The acronym represents the multinational firms Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), Bunge, Cargill and Louis Dreyfus.

The ABCD companies are thought to control about 70 per cent of the global grain trade, so when Louis Dreyfus recently sold its grain handling network in Canada to Parrish and Heimbecker, it made me think how much times have changed.

New Dugald site to provide full suite of crop input solutions and global grain marketing opportunities

Dugald, Man. (June 7, 2019) – Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) announced today that it will build a new crop input and grain facility in the Dugald, Manitoba area.

Plans for the new site include 25,000 tonnes of grain storage, a loop track for continuous grain loading and movement as well as crop input facilities including a fertilizer plant, chemical warehouse and seed treatment facility to serve customers in surrounding areas, including Transcona.
